Officiating Football
The demand for match officials in football is increasing with the popularity of the game. The role of a referee is vitally important and we need more men and women to help the development of the game at a grass roots level.
It is estimated by the Football Association that there may be up to 20 per cent of matches played around the country without a qualified referee or official. As part of their development strategy, the FA have set a target of recruiting 8,000 new officials by 2012. This is to compliment the current 26,000 officials already in place,
There is a real shortage of referees but this is where you could help. The first step is to register with us and working with your local County FA Referee Development Officer we will ensure that you get all the relevant training and support that you need by putting you through a basic Referees Course.
