Helping businesses become community champions

The Tony Blair Sports Foundation’s (TBSF) subsidised coach training programme is hugely popular with local people who have become coaches, and with community sports groups who need them. As part of the charity’s drive to get the North East ready for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, TBSF is looking to partner with businesses across the region to create a legacy that will make the North East a beacon of sporting success for may years to come.

The charity’s corporate membership scheme the “Tony Blair Sports Foundation for Business” will see companies encouraging staff to become volunteer sports coaches and officials.

Speaking at the launch of the scheme, Tony Blair said:

I have always been passionate about sport and its capacity to change people's lives. It is often the best public health policy and the best way to bring people together. When North East businesses sign up to my Sports Foundation’s new scheme, their employees will have the opportunity to volunteer as sports coaches and officials, and in the process they will open up sport to even more young people in their local communities.”

There are two TBSF for Business schemes available; a ‘Friends’ and a ‘Corporate’ scheme which are suitable for any business wanting to gain value from CSR activity.

As well as the benefits that come with a sustainable community engagement programme, both schemes offer access to high profile PR, invitations to events and access to best practice groups in the region.
