Cycling

British cycling is leading the world and cycling is another fantastic new sport supported by the Tony Blair Sports Foundation from 2009. British Cycling has targeted the North East as a priority area for expanding the sport and The Tony Blair Sports Foundation will be working closely with them in communities to increase involvement.

The British Cycling Club have a programme called Go-Ride aimed at improving community clubs and young riders and the focus is to develop more volunteers in order to increase participation through improved coaching standards.

More qualified coaches mean more young riders with access to events and activities. For Go-Ride to succeed it is vital that partnerships are developed between British Cycling, local clubs, community groups and voluntary organisations like the TBSF.

The Tony Blair Sports Foundation can help local clubs achieve the Go-Ride Clubmark Accreditation, by helping volunteers to gain the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cycling, we will help develop local clubs.

In partnership with British Cycling, we have developed a recruitment programme to compliment Go-Ride and develop coaches and officials to support events. We really want you to get on your bike!
