Tyne Met girls making a difference
Monday, Mar 09, 2009 in Sports FoundationJordan and Stephanie are currently enrolled on a Level 3 course in sport at North Tyneside's Tyne Metropolitan College and have also been selected to be part of the women's Football Development Centre within the North East Sports Academy.
With help from the Tony Blair Sports Foundation, both students successfully completed their Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football.
Since gaining their coaching certificate the girls have been able to:-
• coach the North Shields Juniors F.C Under 15's team
• lead coaching sessions alongside experienced coaches and take an active role in all other aspects of the training sessions
• during match days have carried out important roles and have been responsible for players warm ups and cool down sessions.
Mark McCutcheon, Sports Co-ordinator at Tyne Met College says:
"The help and support from the Tony Blair Sports Foundation has really helped these two students gain further positive experiences of football and has also aided them in passing on their new found knowledge and enthusiasm to other young people within their local community."
