Try Athletics with NOTAN

With summer and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the way, The North of Tyne Athletics Network (NOTAN) are giving you and your friends and family the chance to try out some fun athletics activities.

To celebrate 100 days until the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, NOTAN’s Try Athletics Event will be held on 18 April 2012 at Churchill Playing Fields in Whitley Bay, from 16:30 to 19:30. The event is open to everyone and you can try your hand at a range of fun activities from an inflatable pole vault, jumps and throws to relays, a road run and even a tug of war! There will also be music, food and a raffle to make the event a great afternoon out.

The event is sure to be a great way to try out new athletics activities, as Jeanette Pickard, Chief Executive of the Tony Blair Sports Foundation, commented:

“NOTAN is one of the Foundation’s partner organisations and I think that events like the NOTAN Try Athletics Event are a great way to get communities active and playing more sport. I would encourage anyone who is keen to try out something new to go along to the event and have fun.”
