The future stars of Wallsend Boys Club
Wednesday, Mar 25, 2009 in Sports FoundationWallsend Boys Club are inviting women and girls to join the club and follow in the footsteps of past footballing stars such as Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Michael Carrick.
In November last year, The Tony Blair Sports Foundation launched a joint pilot initiative with Wallsend Boys Club and North Tyneside Council to get more girls and women into football and so far this has been a great success with 7 girls having just completed their Level 1 coaching course.
In a recent interview with BBC Your Game, Gary Marshall, Wallsend Manager emphasised the importance of giving young women and girls a stable and enjoyable base to enjoy the game. The girls are hoping to become as successful as the boys and hope that one day an FA cup will be winging its way to them.
