Team TBSF 2012 are Ready to Run
Tuesday, Sep 04, 2012 in Sports FoundationWith just over one week to go until the 2012 Great North Run, Team TBSF are ready to put their best feet forward and tackle the world’s biggest half marathon.
A 32 strong team of runners will be assembling on the start line as part of Team TBSF this year, and all will be aiming to raise as much money as possible to support The Tony Blair Sports Foundation. Every £200 that is raised will help the Foundation to recruit and qualify another coach, leader or official. Once qualified, these individuals will start volunteering in their local community to give more young people the chance to play sport and lead an active lifestyle.
One club that has hugely benefitted from an increase in their number of volunteer coaches thanks to The Tony Blair Sports Foundation is the Tyne Bridge Harriers. In the last year alone, 20 individuals have gained Leader in Running Fitness qualifications with the support of the Foundation and they are now placed with Tyne Bridge Harriers. And four members of the club are in the process of undertaking a Coach in Running Fitness qualification to further their coaching skills.
With Tyne Bridge Harriers having benefitted from this impressive number of coaches, The Tony Blair Sports Foundation is delighted that a group of the club’s members have joined Team TBSF this year for the Great North Run. They join teams from our business supporters for 2012, Nonlinear Dynamics from Newcastle upon Tyne and Teescraft Engineering from Bishop Auckland, and the Foundation is grateful for their support and commitment. The Tony Blair Sports Foundation wishes all members of Team TBSF good luck for the Great North Run, and we look forward to cheering you on as you take on the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields!
