TBSF Tennis Challenge Cup gets competitive
Friday, Jul 02, 2010 in Sports FoundationTwelve teams arrived at Sunderland Tennis Centre on 17th June, 2010 to compete in the Tony Blair Sports Foundation Tennis Challenge Cup County Final. The scenes were reminiscent of the Wimbledon Championships as two places in the coveted Grand Final were at stake. Schools from across County Durham had won through their cluster and SSP Final rounds and had earned the right to play on the big stage. Points were allocated both from matches and challenges which included Rally Rebound, Can Knock Down, Net Rally and Volley Ladder. The atmosphere was one of excitement and nerves as the four boys and four girls in each team tried to achieve maximum points in each event. After nearly three hours of play the final scores were announced in reverse order and the Winners and Runners Up were crowned. Congratulations go to Shotton Hall Juniors and St. Patrick’s RC, Dipton who will now represent County Durham in the Grand Final on 9th July.
