AGI Management Team
• AGI Chief Executive, Kate Gross
Kate is a former Senior Civil Servant, with experience in a variety of UK government departments and the European Commission, and has been with AGI since its inception in 2008. She advised Prime Minister Tony Blair and Prime Minister Gordon Brown as Private Secretary for Parliamentary and Home Affairs.
• AGI Director of Strategy and Investment, David Easton
David joined AGI at its inception in January 2008. After working on the early development of the Rwanda Project David launched the AGI Sierra Leone project team, before returning to London to work on overall AGI Strategy and its work on Private Sector Development. Prior to joining AGI, David was a consultant with McKinsey & Company in London.
• AGI Director of Projects, Nick Thompson
An experienced Civil Servant, Nick has worked in a variety of UK Government Departments and in Brussels advising Ministers on a range of policy areas including trade, energy and the environment. Nick was the co-project leader of the Sierra Leone team with David prior to returning to London as Director of Projects
• Rwanda Project Leader, Jonathan Reynaga
Jonathan is formerly a Senior Policy Advisor at the UK Prime Minister's Strategy Unit and has provided advice to the governments of Australia, Peru and Vietnam. He has been Project Leader of the Rwanda Project since its inception in 2008.
• Sierra Leone Project Leader, Paul Skidmore
Paul joined the Sierra Leone team as Project Leader after almost a year as a governance advisor in the Rwanda Project. Before that he worked as a strategy advisor and consultant on projects for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Department for International Development and the Foreign Office. Before that he was a senior researcher at the UK think tank Demos, and began his career as a speechwriter for David Lammy MP.
• Liberia Project Leader, Shaun Chau
Shaun is leading the Liberia Project, having worked for AGI in Rwanda as Deputy Head of the President's Strategy and Policy Unit. He was formerly a Senior Policy Advisor at the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit and a Strategy Advisor at the Foreign Office. He began his career as a corporate lawyer.
AGI UK Board
• Chair of the AGI UK Board, Liz Lloyd
Liz was previously Deputy Chief of Staff to Tony Blair, and prior to that his Senior Policy Advisor on Climate Change, Africa and Home Affairs. Since leaving Downing Street, Liz has advised several Prime Ministerial/Presidential Offices, and was the founder of AGI’s work in the Office of Tony Blair – leading our initial contact with the Government of Rwanda. Liz now works for Standard Chartered Bank, and is Chair of the Board of Trustees.
• AGI Trustee, the Rt. Hon. Hilary Armstrong MP
A former social worker and university lecturer, Hilary worked for VSO in Kenya before entering politics. Hilary was first elected as Labour MP for North West Durham in 1987. Between 2001 and 2005, she was Government Chief Whip before becoming Minister for the Cabinet Office until 2007. Shortlisted for the Charity Champion Awards by VSO, Hilary played a key role in the ‘Women Matter’ campaign, helping to ensure that women were prioritised in the new Department for International Development HIV and Aids strategy.
• AGI Trustee, Stephen Lewin
Stephen is a senior partner at law firm Bircham Dyson Bell. His practice includes a focus on charity law, primarily advising on constitutional issues, assets and investment powers. Stephen is a trustee and advisor to a number of charities, in Africa, the UK and elsewhere.
